MUDVAYNE: 'By The People, For The People' First-Week Sales Revealed
December 5, 2007MUDVAYNE's new collection of rarities, demos and live recordings, "By The People, For The People", sold 22,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 51 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Fans helped choose the songs on "By The People, For The People" at Mudvayne.com, with the group deciding on the final selection. The record contains demo versions of some of MUDVAYNE's most popular songs, including "Death Blooms", "Fall Into Sleep", "Not Falling" and "Happy".
The set also features a previously unreleased cover of THE POLICE's "King of Pain", plus live and acoustic versions of other MUDVAYNE favorites.
"By The People, For The People" contains one new song called "Dull Boy". Although the band has been working on its next CD, singer Chad Gray told The Pulse of Radio that the track does not represent what the fourth MUDVAYNE album will sound like. "'Dull Boy' is not, like, how the rest of the songs are," he said. "You know what I mean, like, it's kind of out there in its own sense and it's not like...I'm wondering how people will react to that, like thinking if that's how the new record is, it's all like that. Which I don't want to comment on, how the new record is, 'cause it's not, in my eyes right now I don't feel like it's necessarily complete."
Gray's other band, HELLYEAH, is currently on the road and recently issued a live DVD titled "Below The Belt".
